U.S. Central announces new access to Federal Reserve credit

U.S. Central Federal Credit Union announced May 2, 2008, that it has taken all necessary action to obtain full access to the Federal Reserve credit facilities, including both intraday credit and the discount window.

U.S. Central’s “Take Our Children to Work Day” Goes Green!

greencity_040308.jpgOn Thursday, April 24, U.S. Central’s multipurpose rooms were transformed into “Green City Central” for our annual “Take Our Children to Work Day.” We hosted 43 children, ages 8-13, for the day’s activities centering on our new company-wide “Go Green!” theme. Green City Central was our own variation of Kansas City’s Exchange City, a small, operational city in which the children learned about raw materials and what it takes to manufacture and promote products and services.

Paper or plastic? Or styrofoam?

At U.S. Central, we’re researching alternatives to styrofoam drinking cups and have found some interesting data and options.

Education in Johnson County
Here in Lenexa, one of our most important resources is our education system. The value of highly educated children extends far beyond the classroom and into our community. This is why Lenexa and Johnson County has one of the highest levels of education attainment of any county in the nation.

School districts
Students from kindergarten through high school attend classes in the Shawnee Mission, Olathe and DeSoto school districts. These three districts are some of the most respected districts in the Kansas City metro area, as well as nationally. The Shawnee Mission and Olathe school districts consistently are ranked in the top 25 in the nation.

Higher education
The Kansas City metro area has 43 two and four-year colleges. Johnson County Community College is one of the premier two-year institutions in the nation. Their diverse programs enable both students and professionals to take classes both day and night. Lenexa is located just 30 minutes from the main campus of the University of Kansas in Lawrence. The Edwards Campus is a satellite of the University of Kansas, located minutes from Lenexa in Johnson County.

Education points of pride

  • Five of Johnson County’s six school districts were awarded “gold medals” by Expansion Management Magazine.
  • The average ACT score for a Johnson County student is 23.2. The national average is 21.
  • The average SAT score for a Johnson County student is 1177. The national average is 1020.
  • Johnson County is first in its class in percentage of adults with a high school diploma; fourth in percentage of adults with a bachelor’s degree; and 16th in percentage of adults with a graduate degree.

Marsha Noll
Associate VP, IT Process Management

Marsha Noll, associate VP of IT process management, oversees several IT areas for U.S. Central including vendor and change management, as well as configuration and financial management for the department. Her duties include evaluating prospective vendors, negotiating contracts, maintaining vendor relationships, and identifying and mitigating potential risks for requested changes to the production environment. She’s also responsible for maintaining a database of business processes, hardware, software and their inter-relationships, and establishing and managing the IT budget.

Marsha has been with U.S. Central since November 2002. Before her current position, she served as director of special projects for CNECS. Prior to joining the company, she worked for Sprint, Network Knowledge Training Center, the Department of Energy and the Department of Veteran’s Affairs. Marsha earned her master of science in accounting from Central Missouri State University in 1988. She also is a certified public accountant, a Novell certified network engineer and a Microsoft certified professional.

Marsha lives in Platte County, Mo. with her two children – Ryan (11) and Rachel (9). She enjoys horseback riding, water sports, snow skiing, running and biking. She also recently jumped out of a plane at 10,000 feet to celebrate her 40th birthday!
